Fuerza Bruta

I’ve been longing to watch Fuerza Bruta ever since it premiered last February. But a Php2,500-3,000 ticket price prevented me. It’s just way too much for a 60-minute show.

The reviews were great, and several celebrities watched it…I was more intrigued. Truly, patience is a virtue. I was able to buy our tickets at a discounted price. Thank you, Ensogo!

Fuerza Bruta literally means “Brute Force”. It originated in Buenos Aires and is now traveling around the globe, Philippines being one of the lucky destinations. This physical and visual extravaganza was shown in Manila Hotel Tent, which ran until the 26th of March.

I already know what to expect, seeing the pictures posted by many…still, I was captivated.

Before the start of the show, there was a lot of dancing, howling and jumping, accompanied by bright lights and smoke.  It was full- house and everyone was in a party mode.

The show required total audience participation. Performers appeared in all corners and props were dragged from one corner to the center, hence the audience moved from one place to another.

The mysterious man.

The show opened with a mysterious man in white initially walking on a giant treadmill,  who then jogged and finally ran.

He had the most exhausting role.
Then there was a gun shot, he was hit, he removed his stained shirt and walked. And then several objects were tossed and toppled off the treadmill, along with other performers. Until the mysterious man hit a white wall, and it rained with confetti.

After hitting the big white wall...

A huge silver curtain-like cloth appeared, where 2 ladies were dancing floating-like on the wall.

This was beautiful: ladies running & dancing mid-air.

The background cloth created a water effect...

...especially when the lights turned white.

A stage appeared on our right side. The performers were fiercely dancing, ripped the props and smashed the styros (bursting with confetti).

Ruckus. They really ripped the stage off.

I love the lighting.

These performers were full of energy. Very infectious!

The most fascinating was this huge shallow pool propped above our heads. The female performers were swimming and splashing, clad in sheer blouses and underwears. It was like looking through a massive aquarium with dancing mermaids.

First scene, as the curtain was slid off the pool.

The venue suddenly got hot when these ladies came out.

The blouses they wore were sheer.

Lovely!

Impressive. Really jaw-dropping.

Beautiful ripples were made.

Stomp. Ripples. Stomp. Ripples.

They swam. And jumped! Made us all scream. Baka bumigay yung pool kasi, hahaha.

She was smiling at us.

It was hypnotic.

Very graceful. They were like water creatures.

This was the longest time I ever craned my neck.

This pool was lowered, just a little above our heads, and we were allowed to touch the pool with the palm of our hands.

You can see them really close.

It was suffocating when the pool was lowered.

The guys were really touching the untouchables, hahaha.

I am at a loss for words. I can’t fully explain the experience. It was totally different, though simple, yet astonishing.

The performers.

At the end of the show, there was more dancing… and splashing of water. Everyone didn’t mind getting wet, they even enjoyed it. The performers even went around and danced with the crowd.

Water. Wetness. Dancing.

As more water was sprinkled the more they danced.

With my cousin, David. Di naman kami masyadong nabasa =)

This is FTW!

Coca Cola Concert ng Bayan

In celebration of its 100th year, Coke had a Concert ng Bayan last Friday,  23 March 2012, from 3pm to 3am the following day (ala Woodstock) at the SM MOA Concert Grounds.

I arrived at the venue past 8, with Wolfgang on stage. Some of the performers were:

Vinci of Parokya ni Edgar

Chito Miranda of Parokya ni Edgar

Gloc-9

Someday Dream

Gary Valenciano & Sarah Geronimo

Sarah, Gary V. and Someday Dream singing the Coke anthem.

Gary V. and his son, Gabriel,  had the people dancing non-stop.

A projection on a building showcased a video montage of Coca Cola through the years. I was seated on the left side of the stage, so part of my view was blocked.

Then Coke ignited the sky with fireworks.

By midnight, Craig David dominated the stage.

The guy in white is Craig David

"I met this girl on Monday, took her for a drink on Tuesday, we were making love by Wednesday...."

Promise, and gwapo niya!

"Feels like insomnia..."

I stayed a little while after the performance of Craig David. I was determined to wait for Ely Buendia. Unfortunately, sleepiness enveloped me. I had to leave. It was 2am after all.

Happy 100 years Coca Cola!

Magnum Craze

Yes, there’s a craze, caused by this ice cream from Selecta. The Magnum ice cream bar has been trending on Twitter for days since it was launched last February. Everybody’s raving about it. Those who tried it took photos and posted them via Instagram and Twitter.

In the Philippines, 3 flavors were introduced: Classic, Almond and Chocolate Truffle. Priced at Php50.00, it came expensive for me. But I gotta try it, with all the media frenzy, I have to find out the fuss.

I must admit, I’m not into ice cream bars. I only go for Dilly Bar of Dairy Queen. I still love the regular ice cream, without the chocolate coating.

Magnum has been described as a “gourmet ice cream”, coated with Belgian chocolate that’s been formulated to crack into desirable shards to reveal a generous bar of vanilla or chocolate ice cream. With such description, my mouth watered right away.

Hands down, the chocolate coating is really yummy! Very chocolatey (imported talaga ang peg). But it is expensive. The locally made Pinipig Crunch and Cornetto may not have the same chocolate formulation with Magnum, but it is also yummy…and very affordable.

To top it all, Magnum is being endorsed by high society’s A-list names. Thus, making the ice cream bar more elite, so they say.  But for me, it’s just another ice cream bar.

Magnum is available in all 711 stores. It’s a best seller, chances are you may not be able to buy one. Laging sold out daw.

Ruffa Gutierrez tweeted: If you don’t know what magnum is or have never tried it, you aint COOL

Duh?!

For another 45 bucks, I’d rather have a medium wintermelon milk tea from Serenitea =)
